OUR STORY
A Farm. A Flock
A Philosophy.
"Every fleece is honoured, every sheep is valued, and every fibre tells a story. Each piece carries the warmth of wool grown by sheep living safely at Fred and Freda’s Forever Farm in Somerset."
— Juliet Pankhurst, Founder

THE FOUNDER
Kind to Sheep
Wool Not Waste
My name is Juliet Pankhurst, and in 2022 I began a new chapter, acquiring a farm in the heart of Somerset with my partner.
As a vegetarian, I felt compelled to challenge the long-held perception of sheep as a by-product of the meat industry — and of their fleeces as something of little worth. At SheepKind, we see things differently.
We believe that wool is not waste, but a remarkable natural material — and that every sheep, like every individual who wears our pieces, has its own character, presence, and needs.
Just like Simon, who photo-bombed this selfie!
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Our Values
Rescue First
Every sheep in our flock was rescued from the meat industry. They live full, free lives on our farm. Their fleece is a gift freely given at shearing time.
Always Handmade
Every garment is made by hand in our workshop. We will never industrialise our process. Slow fashion is our fashion.
Truly Unique
Because each fleece is different, no two garments are ever alike. When you buy SheepKind, you own something that will never be replicated.
FRED & FREDA
The Hearts
of the Farm
Fred and Freda are the soul of SheepKind, having both survived adversity in their early lives. It is in their quiet resilience that the spirit of the farm was first recognised, and in their honour that SheepKind takes its name. We feel deeply privileged to have them in our care, where they now live as they always should have — valued, protected, and at peace.
Fred, a rescued Romney, nearly died when he first arrived, but he pulled through with vet care and his unshakable spirit. He is known for getting his head stuck in buckets, and he once napped in the dog kennel.
Freda is a four-horned, deaf Jacob ewe who was rejected at birth. When she fell in the river, Juliet had to jump in to save her.
